Hello everyone!
My last post talked about how March is MS Awareness Month, but March is also Women’s History Month, and that's what this post is going to be about.
I don't have a citation for the above image, as I found it online uncredited. But I'm choosing to include it in this post anyway because I absolutely love it. I admire each of the women in that image, and there are even episodes of Door Key about some of them!
I've been thinking a lot about what Door Key is going to look(sound?) like once I come back from hiatus, and one thing I'm sure of is that I want to do more episodes about women in history, as I think it's important to recognize women's contributions to history. I think a good place to start is with the women in that image that don't have an episode about them yet.
I'd also love to hear from you if you have a suggestion of someone you'd like me to do an episode about (woman or man!).
Harrison says hi!
xoxo, April
Julia Child
I hope you’ve had a chance to listen to the replay episode about Julia by now!
Julia Child was an American chef, cooking teacher, author, television personality - and so much more!
You can listen to the episode about Julia Child here:
I’ve been very open and clear about how much I admire Julia Child. She is played by the amazing Meryl Streep in the movie Julie & Julia, and she’s also played by Sarah Lancashire in the TV Series Julia. Both are wonderful, and the actresses do a wonderful job portraying Julia, but to get the full ‘Julia experience’, I highly recommend watching episodes of her show The French Chef on YouTube. You can also find videos of her cooking with chefs like Jacques Pépin, Emeril Lagasse, and even Martha Stewart. Julia is an absolute delight in every video she’s in, and her enthusiasm for cooking (and life!) is absolutely contagious! Bon Appetit!
Extra credit
There's an episode of Door Key about Lady Jane Grey, who's also known as England's 'Nine Days Queen'.
When I made that episode, there weren't any known official paintings of her - only recreations, or paintings made after her death where the artist imagined what she looked like.
But all of that might have changed! Researchers believe they have enough evidence that a painting from the Tudor Era is a contemporary painting of Lady Jane Grey!
This article from The Guardian talks about it:
Thank you to Stephanie Fuccio ( Steph Fuccio, Coffeelike Media ) for all the help she’s been giving me with Door Key while I’m on hiatus! You can find her at
, and also at her website which is here.
Love this idea for a mini rebrand of sorts. Can’t wait till you’re back 💗
