Hello everyone!
It’s September, which means fall is just around the corner!
I hope you all had a wonderful Labor Day Weekend!
Labor Day is observed in the US on the first Monday in September. It’s an annual celebration of the social and economic achievements of American workers. The holiday is rooted in the late nineteenth century, when labor activists pushed for a federal holiday to recognize the many contributions workers have made to America’s strength, prosperity, and well-being. The first Labor Day holiday was celebrated on Tuesday, September 5, 1882, in New York City.
Coffeelike Media
I know I’ve been pretty quiet about it the past few posts, but
has been working hard with me on my podcast episodes, social media, marketing, and even this Substack, and I wanted to take a moment to shout her out!Have you heard the term ‘friend of the pod’ before? Well, Steph is more than a friend of my podcast - I think of her as ‘fairy god-mother of the pod’! She came along, waved her magic wand, and bibbidi-bobbidi-booped my podcast, and now it’s so improved in so many different ways, and I’m incredibly grateful! Steph has helped me focus my podcast’s episodes and helped me be clearer with what I’m trying to say (in my episodes, but also on Social Media and here on Substack). I think the two of us make a great team, and wanted to make sure you all know about her and her amazing skills!
Something that I haven’t talked about yet is that Steph and I have been working on a series for her podcast
where we really dive into what she’s been helping me do for Door Key. This series isn’t out yet, but it’s been an absolute joy making it with her! I’ve learned so much! I’ll be sure to point you in the direction of the series once it’s out in the fall!In the meantime, this video was taken during one of our recording sessions - here I am freaking out over a rainbow! 😄
If you need any help with your podcast, you can find Steph here!

Marie Curie
I hope you’ve had a chance to listen to the episode about Marie Curie by now!
Marie Curie was born in Warsaw in 1867. She eventually moved to Paris, where she conducted groundbreaking scientific research with her husband Pierre Curie. Marie was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize. Marie and Pierre discovered the elements polonium and radium, and also coined the term ‘radioactivity’. During the First World War, Marie would support the war effort, and invent mobile X-ray units. Marie Curie lived a very full, inspiring life, and has had a continued impact on science and medicine.
You can listen to the episode about Marie Curie here:
The Curie family and Nobel Prizes
I think a really cool fact about the Curie family is how many of them won Nobel Prizes! Not only did Marie and Pierre both win Nobel Prizes themselves, but their daughter Irène won a Nobel Prize with her husband, and Marie and Pierre’s other daughter Ève’s husband won a Nobel Prize as well!
Marie and Pierre Curie
Marie Curie and her husband Pierre Curie won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1903 with Henri Becquerel for their discovery of radioactivity. Marie also won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1911 for isolating pure radium. Marie Curie is the only woman to win the Nobel Prize in two different fields.
Irène and Frédéric Joliot-Curie
Marie and Pierre’s oldest daughter Irène Curie and her husband Frédéric Joliot shared a Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1935.
Ève Curie
Ève was Marie and Pierre’s second daughter, and her husband Henry Richardson Labouisse received a Nobel Peace Prize on behalf of UNICEF in 1965, becoming the fifth person in the Curies' extended family to receive a Nobel Prize.
I believe that nature and nurture really came together in an amazing way for the Curie family!
